COVID 19 will go down in history as a notable term in a similar fashion as Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, and a slew of impactful life-changing events that will not soon be forgotten. While we are very much in the midst of this event of dynamic proportions, the question that lingers is "What does this all mean". Humankind has always associated these life events with the coming of the end of times and messages that God is sending in some shape or form. It is amazing how many end of times predictions exist. Some that come to mind are the inference in the George Orwell Novel "1984" suggesting that it would be the mark of the end. Then there was the idea that the turn of the century from 1999 to 2000 would surely be the mark. Although, there were some events that presented some different circumstances during those era's, it was far from the end.
In my spiritual prospective, I would think that God's majesty is of a magnitude that would leave a level of mystery to my human thinking as to when the end would be. I think that our great grandparents saw some end time events over 100 years ago. Thus, God has shown signs of the end of times through out the years because the warning signs, although years in the delivery, are presented to allow messages to be clear and passed across generations. The question of why things happen are not as important as to how to navigate ourselves through struggle, tragedy, loss, and life-changing circumstances. Needless to say or necessary to remind you, "we were made for this". Truly, there are societal, and in this case worldly events, the nature of which we have never experienced.
The other side of this pandemic has the promise of a prepared people. At the time of this writing there is no cure for Corona-virus. The medical community has been baffled by the way the virus behaves and ways to treat it. But God is not taken by surprise. The theme to this is definitely to remain quarantined and figure out ways to live and move about with least amount of risk. We should definitely take care of ourselves and each other. We should wash our hands and keep our surroundings sanitized and disinfected. We should check on our elders and continue to support our children in understanding and practicing these same traits.
God has equipped us with the knowledge to be obedient, have good hygiene, and do things to keep our immune systems strong. It is what we should naturally do. Who knows the "why" to this pandemic? I think more importantly is the ways that we respond to the presence of it. Pay attention to any changes in the way you feel and address it immediately.
The COVID 19 experience will be a mark in the books that will hopefully teach future generations how to respond to all kinds of change. Remain aware and trust God, who is the basis of our faith to do all things.
